Statement
We are nine photographers who have been meeting regularly as a critique group since 2015. We have each pursued a variety of photographic genres: portraiture, documentary, multimedia, landscape, narrative, and abstraction. Meeting together we have been able to take risks, expanding the boundaries of our idea of photography. What joins our diversity of visions is a commitment to each other, to pointed and supportive critique, and to exploring together our individual approaches to photographic art. We have curated this exhibition to show both a coherent representation of individual work and the many ways photography has been pursued through our collaboration.
Group Biography
The core of our group met first in a Griffin Museum of Photograph Atelier workshop. Afterward we formed a critique group to continue the creative atmosphere and camaraderie we had experienced in the workshop. We have continued meeting most months to share work in progress, conversation, and, of course, good food. We jokingly called ourselves N2 (No Name) and the name has stuck. We continued meeting by Zoom during the pandemic, and it was then we fully appreciated the importance of our artistic friendship and its significance for our individual projects. We represent a variety of approaches to photography. No matter our approach, the critique process has been invaluable for our growth as artists, and we celebrate our group in this exhibition.
